shocked
there we all were, settling into a very cozy night of dutch traditions...sinterklaus...hosted by our one and only dutch woman.
we wrote teasing poems...exchanged treats and sampled dutch treats. all the while yessica was going in and out of contractions. smiling, talking, wincing, and at times stopping mid-sentence as she experienced close but inconsistent contractions.
( love this pic, because you can tell yessica is having a contraction!) we all teased and laughed and told her she should pack a hospital bag soon...have a birth plan...and she just laughed along with us.
and then it happened. i got a text from Val at 1:23 am that yessica's water broke and she was heading to the hospital. i was shocked. she was 4 weeks early. ahhh!
i woke up my own little babe and breastfed her, thinking i could then go be present at the birth. i got a text at 2:15am that she was at 9, a text at 2:23am that the babe was here!!! i jumped in my car and made it to the hospital at 2:40...and just so shocked and excited to see the amazing mom and new little precious baby!
It was hilarious to talk through their rushed crazy birth experience with "planner" matta and just how good God was that the streets were empty and that yessica made it to the hospital!
we are so excited for Ismay Aloe DeMan. She is only one month younger than sweet sophia nour and we know that God has great things ahead for these little sweet girls.
