High Tea
I had only heard of the splendor of high tea from my mom, my sister-in-law, their friends. My imagination kept jumping back to Anne of Green Gables and the White Sands Hotel... and I was content to day dream about taking the girls one day.
But when we arrived in South Africa, Bethany offered some fun suggestions of things we could do with our time- and she had found a High Tea in a fancy hotel in a city one hour's drive away.
yes please.
I went back and forth of whether to take Sophia with us also. She is so adorable and so adoring and can make memories just so enchanting with her exclamations. But there is the chance...really about a 50% chance... that she will be bored, or the car ride will take too long, or she will not like the food and she will pull the outing into her frustrated or angry mood.
When it was all said and done I had to take her. I mean who knows when we will be in South Africa again...seize the fancy-tea-party day, you know mama mare?
So after getting all fancy and embarking on our ride there, Fia makes her presence known as she fidgets and pushes and shoves her way around the car. Eventually both girls take a nap in the car ride, and i am dreading the wake-up.
The wake up was somewhat dreadful, but I remained unshaken. I cheerfully cast vision for the outing ahead of us- fancy treats and cakes.
The Hotel was so so fancy, the treats a dream and a live pianist was there, taking it into the near perfect atmosphere experience.
Layla surged as the little girl that would ooh and ahhhh over all the delectable treats and try everything and drink tea and talk with us. Sophia sunk low and at one point was screaming loudly until i frantically searched and then handed her the secret weapon - the iPad.
What a fancy treat. It was so fun to do with the ladies of the family.
Layla got swept into the moment and was dancing beside the beautiful christmas tree at one point, allowing the magic of beauty, music and fancy to sweep her away.
High Tea, you delivered well.
