getting out...
After waking up with a head cold and having a busy
weekend, there was one notion in this
mama’s head. Being outside in nature. I wanted to go find some mountainous
hills to frolic on. Even did Layla’s hair in braids to get the Heidi momentum
rolling…
With no real plan,
and a skeptical but willing Husband, we set off in the car. We drove up into the
mountains and were scouting for perfect spots to play on. The weather was
perfect.
After a few detours into driveways of mansions, and
passing orchards, hills with crops on them, and some very brambly looking wild
hills- we found a spot. Not picturesque green, but some hill that did not seem
inhabited.
You never know what you are going to get with a 3 year old
and just now 2 year old.
At first all they could say was “hold me” which takes a
little bit of the spark out of the whole thing.
But soon Layla was
down exploring- looking for buried treasure, admiring ants and what they were
carrying, thinking that pirates had visited this hill, and then said “ let’s go
find a temple and go into it”.
Sophia first exclaimed
“amazing!” upon being outside, but quickly reverted to wanting to be
carried. We had a few fits as Baba tried
to step in as lead carrier and a certain 2 year old wanted preggo mama.
The highlight was
Layla running down and laughing the whole way. She wanted to do it again, and I
was all set to video but of course she fell and even after our exclamations of
how “ awesome her fall was” and how “ brave she was” she walked the rest of the
way down.
I think a picnic
blanket, some manaqeesh, cold drinks and just getting to rest outside would
have been the perfect way to round our time out. Love family time in nature,
just love it.
