rainy day tea party
So since i have been in the swamps of motherhood... i tried the word "trench" and swamp felt more true to form. Anyways, since i have been swamped, and absolutely, 100% , not-trying-to-hide still figuring things out i was inspired by our rain to try and make a moment.
I created this whole idea for Layla- make up, nails done, music, dressing up fancy...she could decorate any room in the house for this...
and i am not joking that the desire for juice, right now at this very moment, trumped make-up, nails and all. it was a very- let's skip to the real deal, mom. i pushed back. i tried to cast some more magical vision, but i guess between breast feeding and bathing all of them the process was just taking way to long for this 4 and 2 year old.
and let me just say...the tea party in all it's simplicity was more complicated than i thought.
Sophia kept spilling her pink juice on...herself which made her cry, her toes, the floor, the blanket, and heavens to besty i saved the Anna doll from getting a shower.
and sweet baby Hope has been giving us a run for our money...been very uncomfortable and fussy and we are trying to get to the bottom of it...but she did not want to just sit back and let the tea party happen. oh no, mama, there needs to be some bouncing and maybe even some pacing...
this is layla offering me the last almond. so sweet..
happy tea party...

but overall the girls loved it. and that is something that is so dreamy about children. they don't remember the spilled juice or crying baby. they just love that we had a "fancy nancy picnic tea party"
