Thanksgiving goodness

we are doing this thing right. we have arrived at - yes, we want the meal, but it does not have to be days filled with stress leading up to it. so we each make 2 dishes and it ends up feeling like a feast...but also so easy to pull off.
It is fun to have a little ball of wonder and questions that goes with me everywhere and wants to know all about Thanksgiving and why we do what we do. i am reminded again how much i get to shape her values.
Last minute, i try and pull off a festive looking table, and think to myself- self where were you 5 days ago? you could have really made this look special. and i make a mental note that i am not done growing up. i can’t wait to be that classy mom who is wearing pearls, completely slim, serving a perfect turkey in a festive, decorated table.
the crew came over and we set to carving turkeys, setting tables, and letting the littles get some energy out.
and can we talk a little bit about betty crocker here? Sarah is such a good cook. she hostesses parties that deliver. she attempts very difficult dishes and then makes them sounds so easy, and not time-consuming at all. i think that is one of the traits of a good cook- acting like things are easy. i still brag about how much time things take me... ha!
Then we all sat down and just breathed a bit. took in each other and the thankfulness for the day. and that 4 of our littes were at their own table, phew, that is nice.
i witnessed a lively conversation between kopke and layla bear...
and as we dined, we impressed ourselves. Each dish was spectacular and it was fun to have contributed and take part in such a grand meal. thankful.
thankful for friends that our family. for my amazing girls. for laughter. for 2 year old thoughts that keep me delighted all day long. for friendships that deepen with time. for having real lebanese friends. for coming from amazing families who have invested in our lives so beautifully. thankful for grace and for provision. for creativity. for living a life filled with purpose. for a dining room table ( first thanksgiving in 4 years we sat around a table). for our spacious, big, perfect-for-parties house.
it was fun to have Val and Melanie facilitate a "Thankful tree"

love how holidays demand for quality time....
