our home these days..

so it is. our house has been so so full of voices, laughter, people these past two months. we moved April 1 and it is fair to say that we just right-down hand a party boom 'round these parts.

i think it is because we have space. room. we absorb numbers without thought. pizza parties, girl's nights, dinners, evenings with friends over...and then my personal favorite- the stop-by. it is part of the culture here, and it feels o-so-good to have gotten to that place...where friends are just stopping by. sigh.

of course there is the 5 minute dash. throwing things behind closed doors. throwing things in toy bins. wiping off tables. throwing dishes in the sink. but that dash just adds to the buzz of having people over.

and even with the heat settling in over the city and therefore our home, i will not be stopped. we are having too much fun. too many memories.

we were so excited to have Sara come join our family for a bit..layla even picked out a very very interesting mug for her..
Sara has such a sweet sweet spirit and she bring peace with her wherever she goes. She loves on Claire and Sophia beautifully and is so helpful. Her and i decided to do a DBS together and of course claire wanted to join in...that is her children's bible and she is drawing.

but what i love most about our home is the small moments. our everyday. the giggles and adoring glances that sophia gives claire all the time...listening to claire read her books...watching claire put together her puzzles so amazingly...hearing Baba wrestle with layla and her shrieks of laughter...meal times where we get to stop and connect as a family...bath time where we are all learning how to cool off from this heat...and since our bedroom has the best internet-most evenings you can find all four of us piled on the bed..reading...typing...cuddling...

and it is these small moments with my 2 1/2 year old and 7 month old that i want to pause and breathe in. to look into sophia's dark little sparkling eyes and soak her in. to kiss her cheeks one more time. to hold her close. to read one more book. to sing one more song.

i love finding the balance in the hostessing, people, visits, parties, and fun-filled lives we lead, but also just settling into our small moments of family. the ordinary that keeps this boat floating.
