By my side
Hit anew with my desire to have you close by. I want time and space and hearing your thoughts, songs, wanderings, even hearing you play makes my heart happy.
Family prayer time together at the prayer room, love releasing you guys to go create. make stuff to put on the walls.
Oldest one wanting to place it with all the other art created here.
Sweet one spending lots of time creating the perfect picture.
I knew that you, littlest one, would be needing some mama loving after Gigi left, so you came along to the clinic. And really you were quite perfect.
You sat quietly eating your snacks, taking it all in, and asking me questions. I was telling you the various ailments and sickness that was bringing different mama and babies in, and you were so curious and loving about it all.
And of course needed to hold some of the babies. Oh happy one, you started singing really loud towards the end. You were singing Joy to the world, Trolls songs, and anything else you could think of. You made all the Syrian women smile and it brought such a great calm and peace to a clinic where people are hurting and scared about their own children.
Also brought you girls in to teach some very eager Syrian teenagers English.
Layla, you planned, led and taught this whole lesson. I was so impressed and it was so fun to do together. Together. We planned together, we did it together, and we debriefed together. It was so precious, it was so wonderful to work together to help others.
The next week it was Sophia's turn. You needed a white board, of course. Layla was wanting a break from the week before ( so exhausting ;) and so you and I worked together to come up with a lesson also. Impressed with my girlies who will lean in and help.
We could not leave without eating a big lunch together with our grateful Syrian loves...so the you all cuddled up and watched cartoons in Arabic in the waiting.
Sure, there are bathroom breaks, snack requests, tears, and sharing issues. There are shoe dilemmas, rain pouring, and mama moderating sweet tea in-take. But there is this joy, absolute joy to have you by my side. To create and live in this world together.
Here you all are learning addition and subtraction from big sis.
