the mama dart
sick week, weeks actually. calling this doozy sick-storm-jan.
We all had a stomach virus that was intense, recovered from it a bit and then one-by-one we have been taken by head colds, coughs, and fevers.
notice the watering eyes...the nose... this was day 5 of on/off fevers and so we went and picked out a treat - they landed on lollipops.
the pro-longed state of sickness and overall whining, crying, complaining, restless sleep, sinus pressure, coughing, and general AUGH that is going on this house makes you so very thankful for
health.
thank you Jesus for giving us health!
The phenomena that was very striking to me this time around is what i like to call the mama dart...
There was one night of fitful, feverish sleep where between the girls i ran into their room at least 15 times.
It was amazing that i could hear them moaning, or whimpering and i would literally dart to their bedside. and then caress them, tell them i love them, give them water...scratch their back, put paci back into Sophia's mouth...and they would fall back asleep. not always like that, i know, but in this feverish night it was just small comfort measures that they needed.
and my heart was so full,so ready to be that for them. I darted every time. I felt so bad for them, so sad for them, and it was so precious that all they needed was small comfort from mama.
I kept thinking how this is such a unique role that the mama gets to play. Every time anyone in the whole wide world gets sick, the thing they want most is loving care from the mama.
When i woke up, i felt like i had been hit by a bat, that is for sure. but i smiled to myself. I had made it through. my little tooties had been loved and darted to all. night. long.

this morning ( day 6) layla had a fever, so after trying to get into different doctors, and even an urgent care ( kind of more like an ER) with no luck...i decided we needed some fresh air.
they were not the most energetic they have ever been...but it was good for their souls. and for mama.
ending with a snack stop. my tooties love popcorn more than almost anything.
Tonight Layla grabbed her microphone and sang out " let's get some rest, take care of our bodies, let's eat healthy food, and sleep real good" . i attribute that to the sick-house introduction of Doc Mcstuffins, but it was still pretty cute.
