exploring

our summer has flown by..so i am trying to just capture some of our more precious moments.

As i have previously mentioned, this mama, and consequently this family...we love to explore. we love new places which means new moments and memories!

One glorious day we left our littles with Sara and took off on an exploratory adventure with our pals the Kopkes. boom boom pow. that is what i say about that. friends. no kids. hours of conversations without interruptions. nannies that speak english. beautiful summer day. exploring a city in the mountains. road trip snacks. hit me with your best stuff.

After being stuck in city traffic for almost 2 hours ( ahhh!) we headed into the mountains for some pretty serious terrain. thankful we had a trooper. thankful that there were no kids. bewildered at the twists and turns the road continued to take. hard to picture most people driving on this. but we finally found it: douma!!!

a little village nestled in the hills shaped like a scorpion!

andrew and drew so happy to be looking at our destination
sarah and i trying to capture the views

it was quaint. it was pristine. it was isolated and picturesque. i thought of so many people i wanted to take and show this amazing little lebanese village....

it was full of vineyards and olive farms
we stumbled upon this church and it's courtyard lured us in...
we mused and wondered about the people who live in this remote beautiful village
we took pictures and loved getting such quality time together...
drew was resistant to the couple photo shoot...not a big shocker...

being out in a mountain village while the sun was setting was so invigorating for our souls.
we ended eating an incredible lebanese feast overlooking the valleys and mountains- but my camera had run out of battery...it was such a timely get away, a absolute treasure to get to explore and relax with some of our besties.
Then we had another home run just a few weeks later!  We set off to spend a day by the river. I had been dreaming of this for years, after always hearing friends tell me this is how their families relaxed. I have begged and begged drew for us to go to a river...and it was all i could drew and more.

while Beirut was a sizzling 95 degrees, we pulled into this shaded wonderland and this river's origin is from a mountain spring...so it is cold! the breeze off the river was incredible, and we could not believe how peaceful, how priceless, how quiet this spot was!
we set up camp and spent hours- i think close to 6 hours...just completely relaxing. then getting crazy adrenaline rushes in the currents of the river and it's biting coldness. the girls both slept for hours as we delved deep into each other's hearts and lives and all the happenings over the past year.

it was cold. it was refreshing. it was crystal clear. i want to go here once a week now. ha!

marisa and i screaming our lives out because we were so cold!
the chud's friendship has been life changing. that is for sure! always such a joy to have them close.
can you believe we found this spot?
Nate loving on sweet cuddle bug herself
finding the perfect spots to lay out...to jump in... to play with mermaids...

our girls were  SO happy with the setting..the slept longer than they had for days listening to the gentle   rapids of the river and cooling off in this marvelous spot

and last moments of rolling into town, hungry as all get-out, and stopping for shwarma.

love our summer. love finding new spots. love how sweet friendship is.
