our mountains.

no one could have prepared me for how wonderful, majestic, real-deal our mountains here in Lebanon were. ok so i see the snow-capped peak from my living room ( # thank you Jesus for amazing views!) but i just did not think it could be possible that it would be...real.

and then we visited friends about a month ago and i was stunned. there were drifts of snow. we loved the place they were staying in and decided then and there that our family had to take a trip back.

and so we did.

we booked a two bedroom, cozy chalet with a fire place and comfy leather couches and free drinks. all the time. it was amazing. and as i sunk into the couches and Layla literally ran from room to room opening every door and drawer, i just settled into the rest a little get-away can give you.

no laundrey, no cooking, no dishes, no cleaning up toys, no nothing. the girls were both napping and i could read a book. wow. it was so fun. so restful.

and the town was cozy. the slopes looked awesome. the hills for sledding were perfect. the setting was just right for making memories. on our way to the slopes from our hotel we took a wrong turn and ended up being on a quite treacherous road that felt very intense for these city folk to be driving in a van in the snow. a man must have seen us from his window because he ran out and helped us turn around and get out and tried to insist us into his home for tea. gotta love this culture!

we made a little snowman and claire LOVED it

she kept wanting to "hold it". and then when we explained how difficult it would be to hold the snowman...she wanted to hug it. i think it was because the little snowman was so adorable. who wouldn't want to hold it?

we had snowball fights and claire just squealed in delight. it was one of those experiences that is just perfectly rewarding because she loves every detail..every moment and does not even notice the cold.
and then our cold selves climbed into our car...warmed up in our chalet to free mochacinos and topped our full day off with a delicious arab feast. boomsies.
our winter escape was wonderful. it was cozy, it was restful, it was playful, it was silly, it was bonding. my heart felt filled to the brim afterwards at just how much the Father loves us -that he give us times like this little get-a-way.
